Introduction

Boser, or Böser (German for evil one), is the avatar of the God Chaos and the Prince of Darkness. Unlike Jessica, who is continuously reborn as the direct avatar of the Goddess Lucilis, those who assume the title of Boser were once human. By channeling mana through the cursed sword, Alhazard, those who take up this mantle are corrupted by darkness and cease to age. The goal of Boser is to sow the seeds of discord across the land and bring forth the return of Chaos.

In most cases, these avatars are appointed by Chaos himself, selecting a human he deems worthy of corruption. However, should the current Boser perish before another is selected, any human who wields Alhazard can transform into this role. If this is the case, it is possible for a human to reject the darkness and return to a normal human state, as seen with Altemüller.

As exceptions, humans who have already been empowered by Chaos or half-demons are able to wield Alhazard without being corrupted, as demonstrated by Geier and Sonya.
